SÄKAPHEN Surface Repair and Restoration
Asset Restoration and Preservation Across Industries
Component replacement is not always the only or the most appropriate response to surface damage. Corrosion, pitting, mechanical impact, and wear are recurring challenges in industrial equipment, but with a properly engineered repair system, they need not lead to extended downtime or the costs and lead times associated with sourcing new parts.
SÄKAPHEN epoxy composite fillers provide a proven, cost-effective alternative to restore surfaces to their original dimensions and bring equipment back to complete operational capability. They are engineered to restore lost material, rebuild worn surfaces, and repair voids, cracks, pitting, and other surface defects in metallic and thermoset substrates, so that rather than sourcing and fitting a new part, maintenance teams can directly repair it in place, in the workshop or on site.
Once polymerized, SÄKAPHEN epoxy composite fillers can be machined, drilled, tapped, and finished to the original tolerances. Rebuilding a shaft journal, restoring a flange face, or repairing a bearing housing is possible without compromising dimensional accuracy or surface finish.
SÄKAPHEN epoxy composite fillers adhere to carbon steel, stainless steel, aluminum, and other alloys, as well as thermoset substrates. Depending on the application, repaired surfaces can be overcoated with most industrial coatings, including epoxy, epoxy-phenolic, and even baked phenolic linings. This makes them an ideal preparation step before applying a high-performance protective system, ensuring a uniform substrate without compromising the final lining’s performance.
With a solids content of 95% by weight, SÄKAPHEN epoxy composite fillers minimize solvent emissions while delivering excellent film build. No specialized dispensing equipment is required, and both products can be applied on-site without workshop infrastructure, reducing turnaround time and logistics complexity. Whether supplied in a dual-cartridge system compatible with standard caulking guns or trowel-applied, they provide a concrete response and a practical solution to tackle surface repair and restoration tasks.
Field applications of SÄKAPHEN epoxy composite fillers span a broad range of equipment types and industries, from ISO tank containers and valve flanges to heat exchanger tube sheets. The result is always the same: damaged equipment returned to service at significantly lower cost, in less time than replacement would require, and with a considerably reduced environmental footprint, as repair avoids the material consumption and waste associated with manufacturing and disposing of new components.
